Hair Removal
Hair removal describes any method of removing hair especially from the human body. Lasers are a new modality for the rapid, gentle removal of unwanted hair. Consumers contemplating laser hair removal require education to properly evaluate if and where to have laser hair removal performed. Many competing technologies exist. Whether it is hair on the face, armpits, legs, bikini line, or other body parts, many women AND men are intent upon having the hair on their scalp be the only visible hair on their bodies. There are many options available to remove unwanted hair, but few options to get rid of hair permanently. The different methods of hair removal from the old stand-by, shaving, to the new treatments, lasers and Vaniqa, are discussed here. Each person should chose a method or combination of methods that works best for them depending on cost, time available, skin type, and the desired hair-free area.
Laser Hair Removal , when first introduced in the late 1990's, was limited to light skinned individuals with dark hair. Laser and light-based methods are sometimes called phototricholysis or photoepilation . Efficient Laser Hair Removal was produced by Alexandrite and Diode lasers. Dark skinned individuals could not use these lasers for effective hair removal because early generation lasers were unable to distinguish between skin pigment and hair follicles, which led to the burning of those with darker skin. The advent of the new laser line, the yag, and the re-invention of the IPL system has afforded excellent results for individuals with dark skin and dark hair.
SHAVING
You can shave using a safety razor or any electric razor. Never use soap when shaving with a safety razor as it is very drying-use a shaving cream (or a gel with a conditioner in it) followed by a moisturizer to reduce chances of irritation. If you want to shave around your bikini line, try using baby oil-it's a model's trick for quick depilation with no rash.
TWEEZING
This is a temporary method of removing the hair around the eyebrows. Apply a warm pad to the area for thirty seconds before tweezing. Remember to always clean your tweezers with alcohol or astringent and to tweeze in the direction the hair grows. When you finish, use your astringent on the area.
